Comment on Proposed State Alzheimer’s Plan
Posted Monday, September 21, 2015 by John S. Palmer
Washington residents have until September 26th to comment on the proposed findings and recommendations of the Alzheimer’s Disease Working Group formed earlier this year.
The proposed “Washington State Plan to Address Alzheimer’s Disease: Preparing Washington for the Impacts of Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias” is available for review here. It addresses such things as the current and future impact of dementia in Washington State, and the state’s role in providing services to dementia patients and caregivers. It also proposes establishing seven goals:
- Increasing public awareness, engagement and education about dementia
- Preparing communities for significant growth in the population with dementia
- Ensuring the well-being and safety of people with dementia and their family caregivers
- Ensuring family caregivers have access to comprehensive support
- Identifying dementia early and providing dementia-capable evidence-based health care
- Ensuring dementia-capable long-term services and support are available in the patient’s setting of choice
- Promoting research and innovation into the causes of dementia and effective interventions
Comments on the plan can be submitted online here, and commenters may choose to receive email updates about the plan as it moves forward.
